Here Chick Chick...

This woman drove all the way from North Carolina to bring me 20 Easter Egger hens, in a van, with NO cages. Yes, I said no cages. There was about 8 inches of hay on the floor of the van and 50 or so chickens. 20 of them were mine. Needless to say, I don't have to tell you what that van smelled like after a 9 hour trip. Nasty. She arrived at 7am, Friday morning. They all settled in nicely and by the end of the day, I had 11 green eggs and one light brown egg. That's my turkey on the bottom roosting pole and after a head count, I had 21 not 20 hens.

My shipment from Texas arrived at the post office around 8:30am. I had to pick them up immediately. I was so worried that I would miss the shipment because I had to be at work at 1:30pm. Good thing they came early.

Here is a pic of one of the babies. There are 5 different breeds. This is called a "bantam" or small chicken. It's half the size of a regular one. This is a Milli Fleur d'uccle. It's SO tiny!

I had to purchase a baby gate today to keep the dog out of the kitchen. Lucky, my 1 1 1/2 year old toy poodle, has discovered the trash. He is partial to Lance cheese cracker papers but any old leftover will do. He is only 5 1/2 lbs but still can manage to pull the can over, and sometimes the lid is open when I get home! Now this can is much taller than he is. I'm not sure yet how he's getting it open.

It's bad enough that I might have to show the house to perspective buyers with chickens in the basement, but to have them come in and find trash all over the floor is not acceptable! I love him to death but he just cost me $11.99. Turd.

Here's a pic of him as a pup with Amanda. He's not much bigger now.

How do ya get a goat to come when you call her?

Just shake a bag of chips and she comes running! Haha...stupid goat. She's taken up sleeping under the roosting poles in the coop. Now this is NOT a good place to sleep. It was ok when there was just one rooster and a turkey on the poles, but now she's sleeping UNDER 21 hens. 21 pooping hens. Need I say more?
