I bet he wont sit down tonight....

Meet Mr. Coyote who got his rear end shot while killing my chickens. My FAVORITE chickens. He was plucking them off one by one and stashing them in the woods nearby. (I personally think it looks like a fox but The Man says it's not. )

While he was walking back to attack my rooster, after having killed 5 hens and injuring two, he was shot in the tush by Greg. Twice. He was spinning in a cicle, like a dog does when he's chasing his tail.

Unfortunatly when we got up to the coop, he was gone. I gathered up dead hens so he wouldn't enjoy the fruits of his labor that evening. I found all but two. I also found two injured, hiding under rocks. They have since died.

Words cannot discribe how sick I feel over it. Yeah, I know they are chickens, but as I opened the pen that morning, that little voice was warning me and I didn't listen.

Greg has spotted "something" that resembled a fox or coyote last week but the very next night we had a bear get into the trash so I was preoccupied with watching out for him. (He's fricken HUGE).

These chickens were my favorite. Luckily the rooster ran down to the front yard and is still alive. I only have one hen left. She was sitting on eggs in another pen. I candled her eggs tonight and out of 10, only three are alive. I am not a happy chicken lady.

This was the first time I've seen a coyote. I've heard they were around, but everyone says they don't come out during the day. Ha.

I was at the kitchen sink preparing chicken for dinner when all this happened around 4:30pm. Needless to say, we ate sandwiches for dinner.
